Hi guys

What diff does the weight slide have to a non weighted? When should i be using either one?

There are many functions for the slide but the ones i have mostly used.

Weightless for sliding over banks(so the slide wont dip into the bank)

Weighted Slide for getting the lighter slide baits to the stop ring faster.

The way i see it, the weighted one will go down faster. Think the non weighted one will work ok with live bait where it swims down. Can be wrong lol

true, also the heavier ones are also used to take baits down faster off high points like transkei areas, this helps when you want the bait to reach your ring fast and not get burn't off.

Die gewig help om die aas vinniger te laat af gaan, Ek sit betykeer self 'n ekstra sinker op my slide as dity nodig is. Volgens my is dit persoonlike keuse. Ek verkies die een met gewig vir lewendige aas of dood

Slides were initially made with out any weights.
they still worked, untill some one made it heavier by adding soldering wire. this added weight did assist with the speed of getting the bait to a certain point.

now days you have the option of weighted or not.

it's is a personal choice. a non weighted slide may take longer getting to the end stop, so it could assist you having your bait longer in a specific area eg; just behind the lip or back wash of a wave.

just my 2 cents

Soos ek ook gese het, dit is persoonlike keuse van wat jy wil gebruik.

My opinie is, hoe vinniger die aas onder kan kom hoe beter en dan minder kasn van af brand

lately, Ive been buying the non-weighted slides and tying a nice size ball sinker on the steel itself, in between the swivel and knot. Works like a charm!!

Check under Traces and Rigs, Pasta has made up a nice Live Bait Sliding trace.

The only difference is that I use a 8/0 Circle hook that has a little off set and I go threw the skin once more than Pasta and then a let the tage end push up against the skin . This helps it to stay proud and aslo prvents it from pulling back

This is my way of adding a sinker. Use a crimp to keep the sinker in place.
