Casper cut up the 2 slender tuna we caught yesterday same as we cut yellowfin fillets and found the meat to be the same colour as longfin(whitish) and turning a dark grey colour towards the skin ,about an inch thick. Is this normal coloration? i Am going to prepare some for dinner tonight any suggestions?

photos ???

Yes its normal, slender Tuna are not renowned for their flesh colour (sashimi) or quality. I guess they are as good as Long fin to eat, and i dont mind a piece of Long Fin at all. How was yours when you ate it ?

sorry rob no photos unfortunately, why were you not at the slip at melkbos with a beer in hand waiting to see the local catch hahaha. I decided to freeze the small steaks till tomorrow night at our edibles club braai in Durbanville and share the taste with everyone.

Not too much hassle with the launch...I have a breakneck trailer.getting the boat up again was I little harder as I have 15 inch wheels on and to winch her up by hand takes some effort.I am looking at a electric winch system as the boat is going up to sodwana
December for a month for some diving and fishing. Was good practise though.
