Good evening All.

So a friend of mine bought a rod and reel second hand and he asked me to fix a reel, little did i know it was beyond the other side of the grave. Any reel in this condition will not be fixed its just too much intense work saving and fixing others neglect.

All the bearings were rusted and seized on the spool shafts both sides, the driveshaft bearings also, if you look closely you will see. The reel was corroded ALL over and in a state of total neglect and total abuse. The drags were worn away, nothing worked putting it simply.
So i stared machining the seized bearings off, gently stripping and cleaning the entire MESS. The handle was dumped and a new power handle fitted, new bearings a carbon fiber drag system and lots of JJ TLC later were have a reel resurrected from beyond the grave.

Have a nice look and compare the before and after pictures. I purposely fixed this reel just to show the quality of work i can still render from a reel really ready for the rubbish bin.

Enjoy the post.

Same with this reel is laid in a shed for nearly 2 years after being fished. Certain people on this forum see things and form there own opinions and are mostly incorrect with assumptions.

One needs to know the facts before commenting. What is clear is that most of these reels would not likely be fixed by others. I do so many reels that are in good shape and cared for as this is something i imprint upon my clientele.

There are those clients who neglect reels i see my fair share of this all the time.

They however pay the price for doing this, if i am prepared to fix it as it takes lots more time to do this.

I can fix anything but one has to weigh up the time needed and the cost involved and work from there. That is the sensable thing to do.
