@ Benniejordaan,

You correct in what you saying, I do use it on my jetski I think it is a great unit for what I use it for and after seeing the chart that “Fishton” uploaded for me (thanks), I will definitely invest in the software.

Maybe with the up and coming boat show the end of August in Gauteng,  Lowrance will have a stall to promote their products ?? ^^..

I bought a navionics mapping card for my lowrance echo sounder from lowrance durban recently and am very dissapointed...it wasn't cheap and the mapping/technology is very out of date.
I also have a garmin handheld GPS with blue chart mapping and it's much better,showing contour detail and pinnacles.

Is it possible to update the navionics card ?

The next echo sounder/GPS combo I invest in will be a GARMIN

is dit moontlik om die beeld wat jou echo van die seebodem kry  te stoor en later op n pc af te laai selfs op n mappingkaart

Yes, you can log the data on your Lowrance HDS and then go home and view it on your PC using Lowrance's free Sonic Viewer. You can also take position data and save to your unit if you see something interesting from the playback.

You can also take this data that you logged and create charts and 3D bathymetry maps by using DrDepth.

@Fishton,

Can you also lock data on the Elite 5 ‘s ?.

The Elite and Mark series have no Sonar Logger. You can use the NMEA0183 data output, but it is a bit of a mission to say the least. (cheaper to upgrade to an HDS5)
