Decided to take a break from fishing and went climbing the Pieke in Jonkershoek, Stellenbosch.

A friend of mine had to collect data loggers so we got a permit to overnight on the mountain, but if you are fit will be able to do it up and back in a day. We went about 4 hours to the summit and 3hours back with taking photos and collecting the data loggers.

It’s probably the best mountain to climb if you are looking for a panoramic view of the Cape and surrounding wine lands.

 Got to love living in Cape Town!

Mountains always exudes that sense of spirituality.

Plenty of grass, the mountain burnt a year or two ago so the fynbos element is still in a recovery phase, large parts have also been cleared of previous Pine plantations.

Nothing quenches a thirst quite like the water of a cold cape mountain stream.

And then it gets steep...
