During this weekend, I have received correspondence from a "Save Vetch's" campaigner asking to assist in their battle to save this portion of coastline unique to the east coast of KZN. There is a deadline, 31 January 2007. Sealine Members who are willing to help please proceed as follows.

SAVE VETCH'S BEACH CAMPAIGN.
aa) To date, there have been 173 direct email responses.
Its now time for EACH PERSON to register their opposition formally
with; the Consultant tasked with compiling the EIA and the relevant
Authorities.
The aim of the campaign is to get individuals to have their say.Up
till now opposition has been led by the Durban Watersports Committee
and the Surfing Community. This has, in effect, excluded individuals
who are neither members of one of the clubs ( who are being
represented by the DWC ) nor the Surfing Association.
Each of your letters WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE as they will be sent to
the authorities that are tasked with protecting the interests of the
environment and greater public.

PLEASE REGISTER MY OPPOSITION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF A [/b]SMALL[/b] [/b]CRAFT[/b] [/b]HARBOUR[/b], OR ANY OTHER STRUCTURE BELOW THE HIGH WATER MARK, AT VETCH'S BEACH. [/b]
I have lived in [/b]Durban[/b] for more than 30 years. During this time I, my family and friends have spent many happy hours on Vetch’s Beach. [/b]

If the DPDC is allowed to build a Small Craft[/b] harbour[/b] at Vetch’s, the residents of and visitors to Durban, will be deprived of access to this unique stretch of beach which cannot be replicated anywhere on the East Coast of KZN.

There are a number of alternate sites, which are, in all ways suitable for the development of a small craft[/b] harbour[/b], without destroying Vetch’s Beach. It is my belief that the DPDC has not adequately researched these alternatives. [/b]
