A hearty hello to all members.

The main drive behind updating of PERSONAL DATA is not only for the admin team to update their records, but also for us as members to see which and how many  members are in a area / region. With the planning of events,  areas now showing  few or no members can also be incorporated in the planning of events.  It is sad to say that only 46% of members have completed their personal data profiles.

HOW TO UPDATE YOUR PERSONAL DATA:

1)      “click” on MY ACCOUNT----( next to SEARCH block )

2)      “click” on PROFILE-----------( just above TOPIC )

All the different blocks will now appear.

3)      Fill in as much as possible.

NBB !!!!!  LOCATION !!! e.g. JHB, Gauteng

 4)      “click”  on  SAVE

By doing this guys you will help us in assisting members in your area / region to plan events.

REMEMBER:  None of your personal info ( e.g. Personal email ) will be displayed on the web if we do not have your consent.  These updates are purely for the use of SEALINE.

Thanking all upfront and will keep all posted as the % rises.

TO CHANGE YOUR AVATAR:

Hi Simen - Just a suggestion.

Why can't you load the province together with the country into the country drop down list ie. South Africa - Gauteng. This should not be too difficult.

Then we can only add the city or town where we live in as the city. This will allow you to identify members by province and city. You'll still have a problem though with Middelburg in the Eastern Cape and Middelburg in Mpumalanga, but it will be close enough.

If you click on my location you'll only find 1 entry - mine. This is too much dependent on the format unless you implement strict rules regarding the content/punctuation of the city field.

Cheers

Thanks ant
Will pass it onto the EMP. I am quite happy at this stage to see in which town and province the members are. Will we be seeing you at the GP Social?

Hi Simen

Most definitely. I'll have to come up with a different way of doing the name tags, cos my wife's going to kill me if I lose a few of the plastic holders again. I'm thinking of printing labels that you can just stick onto your shirt and throw away afterwards. What do you think?

Cheers

Currently busy with that Deon in a short while from now access will be difficult if your personal profile is not completed. Only trying to eliminate the rush of guys updating when this happens. But thanks, it is in the pipeline

Hi Simen.Lots of anglers refer and respond only to their favorite sites and may miss this request for anglers to update their Personal data for simplicity of forthcoming events, etc.Others forget and don't get around to it.

My suggestion is to send a reminder on all threads/topics,that it's in their interest to update for reasons you've already given in this posting.Sure you can resend same message on all threads, messages.Know it may be a bit of a schlepp, but it may give your request more impetus and reach fruition, or close to it, far quicker. You wouldn't have to answer to all postings personally as members on this site would club in and help. The members on this site are very much clued up and in the know and can point those in the dark,in the right direction. If I hadn't updated my P.D.,and knew i'd lose my participation in Sealine by a certain cut off date,I'd ensure I do it asap.

I,for one,am one of those that prioritise certain topics, and very seldom view the admin side, etc. My 5c!Cheers!

Hallo Walt.
I have already sent a PM to eash member of Sealine whose personal info is not up to date. But yes, and thanks, will again send a mail to all members prior to the next upgrading of the site.
No member will be REFUSED access to the site. It will only be a question of, as he logs on he will first have to update his details before entering the site.
And also thank you the suggestions and will def make sure it happens.
