Sissy Doo

I purchased her from "billmatt" in December 2012. Took her out a few times to Kleinbrak to get the "hang of things".

Bill built her from a kit he imported from the USA, all marine ply wood. When I saw her advertised, I knew this is just what I needed for the rivers and estuaries in the Garden Route area....

It is a 4.1m Sissy-do, flat bottomed boat with a 15hp Parsun motor. Included I got a fishfinder and small electrical bilge pump.

1st pic is how I got her.

My Lady has fair skin, so I had to make a quick plan in April 2013 to get some shade on her. I work in Colombia, so did not have time in December to do this. I looked on the internet and got a few ideas on how to build an inexpensive bimini top.

Below is the result....next to my trusted old Isuzu 280DT, which does not even know there is a boat hooked on when towing...

I am NOT a handyman at all, 10 crooked left thumbs, so the "rustic" look is entirely my fault.

I also had a sock made for safe storage and to protect the bimini canvas (I had a sail maker in Mossel Bay do all the canvas work (10 thumbs remember...). You will notice I used 40mm PVC piping, with 90 degree bends and glued all the joints together, with 2 pop-rivets as added strength. I used some old wooden planks to make the brackets and threaded bar (6mm) to assemble it all together.

And finally, I had an old army-green coloured canvas, which I had converted in a proper boat cover to round things off and also keep my belongings safe when travelling with rods, coolerboxes, etc.

That's it, hope you enjoyed.
