Sinker Mould

Good morning guys

I have a ball sinker mould that is giving me a little problem, this is a old aluminium mould that in some very funny way don't seal flush anymore and due to that the round sinkers always have little "ears" on the side.

Any help to sort out this problem would be very much appreciated.

This problem is normally caused by a wee bit of lead flash stuck to one of the surfaces (or hinge if there is one). Try scraping the surfaces with a knife as the old lead can look just lick the alloy mould surface.

Failing that it's possible that the mould has warped.

1.  Take the mould in one hand.  Hold Tightly.

2.  Walk outside.

3.  Walk towards garbage bin.

4.  Open garbage bin lid with the free hand.

5.  Throw mould away.

6.  Buy a new one.

Just get a piece of glass. Lay a sheet of 300 gritt sandpaper on it. (Water paper) Separate the two halves and sand it until it is smooth. You wont have the problem again.
Use a lot of water while rubbing the mould over the sand paper.

Use a G clamp on the mould every time you want to pour a set of sinkers. This should seal the mould adequately and prevent the ears.
