Yo

Has anyone ever fished in Silwerstroomstrand resort? Is the place worth visiting and/or trying?

Appreciate any suggestions.

Thanx

Silwerstroomstrand can be very productive during the months of Jan. & Feb. Choose a day with little or no wind and good size hottentot can be caught.
On good days catches far exceeding  legal bag limits can be caught , so please leave some for the rest of us.
From the parking lot , walk about 10min. to the south following the easily discernible path. This will bring you to a spot known by the locals as Tafelberg.     Casts are generally short , no further than 20 to 30 metres.
Cast straight at Table mountain , which offers a stunning background to what is most times a very good days fishing.
Best baits to use would be mussel and small fillet baits.
Finding the exact spot to cast can often be a bit time consuming , but well worth the effort.

Hope this helps.

Hi Xerxes
If you're in the Silwerstroomstrand area and looking for something bigger try out Grotto bay , only 5 min. drive further up the west coast road.
Park near the old abandoned fishing hut , take the path past the new grotto bay housing development ( approx. 15 min walk) . Walk till the rocks just past the open sandy beach and try a cast straight into the middle of the bay ( just left of the bamboo).
Nice size cob (3-8 kg.) can be caught in this area this time of the year.
Recently caught a nice cow shark of 68 kg (O.R.I. SCALE ) at this very same spot.
Also good spot for galjoen in the working water.

Best of luck
