Shimano Rod & Reel

Hi Guys

I am relatively new to fishing and only really know the basics.

I got a Shimano Nexave cx 300 xh-3 rod and a Baitrunner st 6000 ra reel for my Birthday yesterday.

Can any one tell me what type of fishing this setup would be suited for?

Its a spinning rod, sounds like a meneer if you ask me! Pretty expensive. The 300 is casting weight, 300g, the xh-3 means extra heavy 3m long. Suppose it will work well for carp and barbel fishing to, very strong rod.

What are the chances of using it for salt water fishing?
Planning a trip down to mtinzini soon..

Don't know Mtinzini at all. I would imagine it will work well for dropshot and or spinning, will work nicely of the rocks, maybe struggle a bit getting distance from the surf but give it a shot.
