Chris I fished Port Edward last week Thursday with PJ and we got a lot of bait - plenty red eyes at the nets, small and large shad at the nets, and plenty mozzies everywhere. The mackerel were scarce but one boat got a couple at the water tower. Unfortunately our morning at Sikombe was plagued by hammerheads - couldn't put a couta bait out for more than 5 min before the T-bones chowed it!

some guys fished port edward yesterday with some big crocs around looks promising ....we fished in shallow water near the base and managed to get 7 nice catfaces on the pick the one weighed in at 7kg s not bad for a sunday afternoon drive
the curent was pulling a bit but the sea was so inviting we could not resist

well there seems to be no sards on the inside all pockets seen turned out to be shoals of other fish red eye mackerel shad. but who knows anything can happen ....the only downside is i have been seeing massive showings moving on the deep which can only be sards or squid but i would say sards by the number of huge showings i have seen

i have been in moz for a 10 day trip and must say the fishing was tough but then back home it has not been easy , the weather also does not seem to give us a gap but looks like we will get tomorrow in ...it has been a bad week in all as i have one friend in ICU with malaria which is a reality when traveling to moz and we had a nasty accident where a boat flipped at Shelly beach and was totally destroyed luckily there were no fatality's ..and it is not true that he was trailing another boat or any of that crap , people like to sensationalize things like this and doing so from Pretoria (come on ).This was just a bad accident and is the nature of the sport people have more car accidents the only difference is in the sea you cannot pull the hand break and stop and the traffic don't stop for you.

may all above recover and hopefully we can do some serious fishing in what is left of this long weekend

well looks like we eventually have some curent back i heard 2 knots today maybe that will shake things up a bit ...so tomorrow we fish

We were in Port Edward for a week during July. We caught a few bottoms, and on the one day we managed 3.5 Geelbek. The sharks were going mad.

What's the fishing like down past Mtentu and Msikaba?

And off Mboytji?

Do you guys ever consider Swords as you have the deepest water in RSA on your doorsteps?

Haven't even heard of it. Is this serious? Any literature available?

Yeah, had a chat with some of the Shelly Beach guys at the InterProv Sail comp last week. Proposal at this stage. I would suggest the clubs / Province try and meet MCM and push for the voluntary closure of certain areas.

We have had a voluntary closure on protea for over 25 year s since I was a little boy ...my dad would crack me if we even dared bottom fishing there ....now they want 21 nautical miles and 25 nautical miles out to sea

This place protects itself with conditions .current and weather only allow you to get an average of 130 days of fishing a year.
