Wat leader and wat hook did u use DB. Also how far did u cast. ?
I casted 250m and used a 2mm wind-on,JUST KIDDING. I used a 1.5mm wind-on and threw out 100m or so. Hook used was a 16/0 mustad circle (one of Fluke's) that he let me use as I ran out of 12/0 z-steel circle hook traces. Also caught this 187cm raggie on the same hook just before the 208cm one on the same tackle.

You cast 250m???????

Wow DB. Did they take u into ur braid at all. U do have braid wat type and how is it joined ?
It never came close to taking me into my braid. I have 600m of 50lb HMP 4-strand backing braid on my Fin-nor 30 with plenty space for 250m 0.55mm topshot or 200m of 0.6mm topshot. The braid is joined to the mainline by a catspaw and there is a stitched loop in the braid.

Anyone have advice on starting up in persuit of sharks? Have a Penn 49 and jigmaster 500, which I've been told handle fair sized sharks pretty well. What is the minimum line weight I'll need and does anyone have tips on rigs?
Thanks!
Oh and by the way this picture that I have posted is a very good example of one needing the right equipment for the job and a jigmaster doesn't do it for big non-eds..The guy had a 0.8mm leader and a full spool of 0.45mm topshot and was targeting raggies on slide at gonubie point. After about a 30 minute fight the spool popped which resulted in us loosing the fish 30 minutes later.
