I have been told by the okes in the know that a SS hook is better than a bronze mild steel one. Because it does not rust it does not cause infection. Of course this is made even better if the hook is barbless.........not only will it not cause siff things to happen but it will fall out!!

no problem AD!! we all here to share info... your experiences and comments seem to be within good reason. since the ncau released the rule of barbless fishing i dont think this should affect the fish anymore.... however, the rusting on the points still seem to be a problem if they get rusty after a few minutes in the water... need to find a way to work around that coz we really need to start conserving our shark populations like we do with all other fish...

would love to try out those scale presure tests. just need to get my stuff up from dbn....

comments well noted!!!:)

I got a 100kilo bronzie this year that had a snoek hook in its mouth. The only part left was from the point through to the beggining of the shank and this was spotless the rest was rusted away....it at been there for some time as it had a few tiny barnacles on it. There was no infection or any other problem with the shark!!! In fact i'vw still got the hook at home!!
