Hi L Hooker

Excellent post, now I can’t wait to get to Zambia. Do you think the fishing should be similar end of September? Do you recommend taking your own tackle with or is the tackle supplied sufficient?

Your feedback will be appreciated

Hi Riekes, not sure too be honest, I usually go between May-July. However sure you will get fish, I always take my own tackle my preference. If I was you I'd take at least 1 rod reel combo, just remember rod hire is an additional daily fee as well .cheers

thanks for the great post. now seriously looking forward to our October trip to that region.

will have to start sorting kit out, as you know this takes time and planning, even though it's all ready anyway.

Thanks for the feedback guys glad to see you enyed the report! For KARL and Riekes make sure you take a good selection of lures in the 9, 11 and 13 size. Shad rap worked well for me and i caught the 7.5kg on this colour below.. Note this is not a shad rap however this is the colour that worked very well along with the fire tiger combinations!

So, will need to go shopping again. Never have enough lures. Worst is, I'm a sucker for bling and new lures. A salesman's dream !!

On the last few trips, we've switched from Rapalas to Storm. Much cheaper, and works just as well.

Rapala fire-tigers gets mangled very quickly, and at  +/- R150.00 a pop, becomes harsh.

Going to spend more time doing the surface popper type, especially early morning.

I tried a few poppers never had a take thou, weater was cold and wind was a bit of a problem so fish where holding very deep. Storm lures i'm sure would work well, however make sure you have the fire tiger colours as that colour works well! Wether you buy storm or rapala lures make certain you take along a few floating/deep divers. When fishing the deep divers i could actually feel the lure hitting the bottom, all of our big fish where caught deep!!Enjoy and tight lines.

Ja, have got fire tiger colours, floating and deep diving. But, never enough. Have replaced the trebles with singles, better hook-ups and also avoids getting stuck when deep trawling.
