Here are pics of a few reels i got in to service. Have a look at this saltish 30H and sl50sh look at the corrosion on the saltist, the handle hand to be pulled off with a puller, see the salt and corrosion build up where it mates to the mainshaft, look at the left side of the spool what you see is not sand that is corrosion in progress. Check the gearing on both reels look at corrosion growing in the grease used in between the gear teeth. Very obviously the grease used here is NOT up to the task of offering the basic protection required for sea water use. Have your reels serviced by people who use the correct products.
Compare the before and after pics look at the sl50sh also, check the reel seat corrosion and how i cleaned it after. It looks straight forward but you never see the intense work done to get it back to a condition that meets my standards.
Have your reels serviced by suitability capable people who are serious about what they do.
