Seaworthy for vaal?

We going to the vaal this weekend, taking a twin engine skiboat. Do we really need a seaworthy certificate for the weekend? What happens if we dont have one when they pull us over? What do we need to get it seaworthy and where can it be done and at what price?

Seaworthy is actually a slightly misleading term . It should be called a Waterworthy .

Anyway - no matter what it is called. You put your boat in the water- you need a seaworthy.
Firstly your boat needs to have proper floatation . If you got a valid flotation certificate, Ok, If not a surveyor needs to inspect the guts.
You need a whole bunch of "Safety" equipment. Flares, anchor/s,1 SABS life jacket per person on board, and awhole bunch of other stuff. Which if you dont have it now, the weekend is too close.

Oh JA ! you need a skippers ticket ( boat driving licence).

OR --
You can try the good ol Sarf Efriken way -- dont do any of the above and bribe the fuzz.

Hm... we have all of that except the bouyancy certificate, they cant find it It had one and the boat has its seaworthy all the way up to 2006 and then they just stopped..
