Alex, you did see that I was not asking about a Supercat ?

Let me make it rather clear, I am not interested in the Supercat, if you want I will give you 20 reasons why but lets not go there

There is a Kosi Cat 17 for sale for R230k as well

Bud I see no reason why I should state reasons on an open forum about my personal choices nor why I made them. If you read the topic it is pretty clear that I have done a lot of research on what I want. I did not ask opinions on "what boat" but on the SeaCat 520 and the Kosicat 17 CC

I like a boat that has high gunnels, floats in very little water, has a soft ride, has proper flotation, can actually plaine on one motor, looks modern, is affordable, has good deck space, can be run by a small crew, will run in big sea, is easy to surf launch, light to tow, and most important , is well thought out for my needs.

This is my choice, my opinion, my dream.......

Now go find something that you are happy with.......

I have chosen the Kosicat Cat 17 CC :first

For those that might follow this thread in future. Looks and one's need are obviously subjective, but the rest of the mentioned boxes are definitnely ticked by these new Supreme Craft 520's. http://www.nauti-tech.co.za/butt-cat/butt-cat-ski-boat-range

P.S. Not affiliated to the company in any way. I just think its probably the best riding 17' on the market and ticks most other boxes as well. Worth considering for those in the market.

No, unfortunately not, I did have a long chat with several owners and with the boats manufacturer and I am satisfied that this is what I want.

The 520 supercat has a cult like following in the Eastern and Western Cape , the main reason being its not a very expensive boat and can operate effectively with 2x40-60hp motors . that makes it very fuel efficient for long distance runs. In terms of comfort and ergonomics I personally don't rate it that high in CC, to the likes of SeaCat/Yeld/Cobra - the later much more solid heavy craft that appeals more to the Moz/KZN styles of fishing

The 17Kozi is a big little small boat with some nice features, high gunnels and good storage , also not that big of a beeeaaaiittch to tow and you will have hours of fun on her - congrats

For Moz/KZN style fishing I have always had a Crush on either a 18,6AceCraft or a Bare bones 19ft Yeld
that makes boat buying so much fun the various choices and diffs of opinion .

You did say that if we want you would give 20 reasons and that's why I asked.

Congrats on the Kosi BTW

P.s I don't need to find something that I m happy with as I found it in a 520 years ago

Stephan I spoke with Bill at Natal Boat and Marine today again.

They put that Kosi Cat 17 on plain with 5 people on board on one 65hp motor,

Will ask them to post the vid on youtube

I too believe that you need a bit more power......that is why I'm looking at 70's ;)

Was it Bill who was advertising a FC with Yamaha F70's towards the end of last year - is that the boat you are referring to Deer? That was a nicely set-up rig and probably the perfect motors for this Kozi 17 (lightest weight 70hp).

Nope, Bill is from Natal Boat and Caravan, they build the Kosi Cat boats.
