Scouting in the nursery

My regular fishing buddy and myself went for a scout on one of our local venues, just to check around after the winter, and an alleged drop in water-level.We were on the water from about 06h30 and was surprized at how little visuals we had of the whisker-gang.

After a round trip to all of our regular spots and having casted Punkin seeds and Salmo-Sliders to no avail,we settled for a bite and a coffee-break. We tossed a few 'Platties' overboard in about 4-5 meters of water ,and as you guessed, we got a few pulls, not huge but enough to spill the coffee.

The Shimano Trevalla's is a bit of overkill for the sluggish winter-mode cats, but they do make short work of the usual  "run away train" at the boat and the length and curve makes it very easy on your boat partner. We ended up getting 4 and kept 2 for the gent who cleans my mate's boat..

I am not advocating the rod ,but have a look at the curve in the rod,it is designed for vertical jigging (probably with a grinder) but even on the narrow 7000HSN Abu there is no rubbing on the blank ,irrespective of the curve/bend.

Nice, at least you caught something. We tried on Platties, earthworm & crickets at the Vaaldam close to Deneysville, not even a twitch....my fishing has been nothing short of embarrasing the whole of winter & spring sofar...... ::cavmn

Jy vra of kleinseun my besig hou! Sy hengel talent maak my bang! Check hier.

@Deisil what a pleasure to hear from you again bud,are you keeping well.?::S
