Hi guys,

I'll be visiting Scottburgh in a week's time. This would be a very first for me. Any advice perhaps for a noob please?

:ifishin

I want to try out dropshotting, if that fails perhaps bait fishing...

Hey Visasem, some info I found online:

Black Rocks, at the river mouth, good spot for Shad and Garrick. Sometimes Kingfish, greys and duskies too.

Heading south towards Cutty Sark Hotel -Natal Stumpy and Kob from the beach. There is another rocky outcrop called Little Black Rock just north of the hotel .

On the south side of the river at main beach there is a tidal pool with sheltered water on the inside where the beach curves to meet the rocks. Shad sometimes move in and around the point here, also blacktail. Live Shad fished off the point can produce catches of Kob, Garrick, Dusky Sharks and the occasional Kingfish.

Around the point, there is a rocky section right in front of the caravan park characterised by gullies and small bays where you will find small pan fish such as Blacktail and Stonebream. Galjoen sometimes move into the gullies in winter.

Golf Rocks, as its name suggests is right on the golf course and is an excellent deep-water spot from where you can catch Shad in winter. Baiting with live Shad could bring in Kob and Garrick.

Some guys say this area is best fished in the dark for catches like shad, stumpie and kob.

Ninja-Nic,

Thanks a lot for the info, I appreciate it!

I will give those places a shot and see. Just hope that it doesnt get too hectic with the holiday traffic...
