According to the sardine hotline, some of the shark nets are being lifted and they are still way down south in the EC. There are rumors of 30 baskets netted at Hibberdene yesterday, but most probably only a pilot shoal.

They netted pilot shoals at Kelso and Park Rynie today. Heard east coast radio interview with Anderson Read and he reckons the main shoal is still in Por St Johns with plenty bird, shark and dolphin activity.

For those of you who are super desperate, the seine netters are selling sards at R750 per crate at the moment.

Sounds if the main shoal will be arriving towards the weekend. Fishing gear packet and ready and will head towards the beach as soon as those silver bullets make landfall. Can't wait!::jdfis

Have you guys looked at the weather report?
Hopefully the sards come to the South Coast after the heavy surf has gone...

Driving from Durban to Port Shepstone (Work) this morning, 3 seine netters passed me on the opposite side of the freeway, at Mtwalume, travelling towards the Scottburgh area.

1.Jig and drop traces
2.Garrick Plug
3.Couta spoon
4.Bullet spoon
5.Slide traces
6.Throw bait traces (Coated wire)
7.Shad s-bend spoon

1 x rod for all round fishing if possible.

Carry all equipment in a shoulder carry bag.

As sometimes you will be chasing the shoal. Can't leave bag behind, plenty crooks around and I mean other fishermen.

Tight lines and screaming reels!!!

Went looking for sards this morning. Saw quite a few pockets behind the backline off Umgababa (15km south of Toti). Waited with 2 crews for about an hour but no-one netted because they were too deep. Heard a rumour this afternoon that a pocket was netted off Illovo, but i cannot confirm. Weather looks really bad for the next few days, but if i see or hear of something, i will update.

This morning (as i'm writing this) the boats are waiting at Toti main beach. Spoke to one of the skippers and he confirmed they took 2 nets yesterday. One of 50 baskets at Umgababa, and one of 120 baskets at Illovo.

Hi Guys n Girls.

This is today's front page of the South Coast Fever.

Big SW coming through and Heavy Seas today, so the sardines are probably out deep.

Been seeing small pockets coming past on the colour line, but nothing today.

The surf is huge, wave braking far out. Wind is pumping, so anyone comming from inland hoping to catch the elusive sards, i'd give it a miss this weekend if i was you

The guys netted at Addington Beach (Durban)this morning. At least 6 to 8 boats. Beach was crazy with activity. Didn't see any big fish, although there were a few people trying. Sardine prices have dropped to R100 per basket. :)
