Hi Guys,

Does anyone have or knows where i can get an illustration of how to tie up a Sardine Belly please and what has the smallest size hook to use with this trace.

Thanks

Reefman..we need your drawing skills here!

Your hook should ideally depend on what sort off fish u targeting..eg. small grunter-1/0 bigger grunter 2/0 stumpnose small shad 3/0 bigger shad + rockcod + shoal kob 4/0.....

This is just wat i would use..if u fish more like my friend volcom then u start taking things like wind speed and direction and current and water temp and tide into consideration when tackling and choosing baits.. But thats why he picks up more fish!

Hey Reefer,

If a dude punches you in the face for pulling out his tooth, would you stop practicing ????

Once an old man told me "We all big ous here so throw the toys away and lets play"

Sard belly especially if frozen - chop of the head and tail split the belly and back so that you have cut like Noweeds has showen there
without cuting through spilt the belly to the tail - insert hook with abit of foam and bind it up you can then also add some tjokka to the meaty side - deadly bait for shad and kob

Hi Kingfish,

Firstly, always tie your bait according to the fish you going to target. Majority of my baits for edibles are no bigger than 6-7cm. In this game, having a smaller more shapely bait is the diff of getting a pull or a few simple tugs and then maby a pull. Too many people are under the impression that big baits catch fish. While diff conditions and locations may differ from that statement, on our coast.... its been proven time and time again.

Weeds` diagram is perfect.  As stated by Raggieman, that combo is any scratches delight. This combo esp when drenched in a sard heads blood, is deadly in discoloured water or at night for reef fish.

We up and about in the Durban area every so often, watch the kzn thread for details. Will be cool to meet up and go wet a line.
