I just got my Saltiga 6000 Surf. I need to know what line to put on. I'm going to be pairing it up with a Shimano 110H. I want to Cast bullet spoons/poppers from the surf and from a boat. I'm prepairing for a trip to Kilwa at the end of October, and want to land a beeeeg GT. But I'm not sure what a good balance is. 1. Cast a long distance and 2. Land a dream GT. Please help!

Just checked, it's got 11 eyes. He must have changed them aswell. I used it for the first time last time I was at Cape Vidal (last year September). Another angler came over after the first cast. Can't remember his name, good with faces not names. Any case, he felt the rod and complimented it. Even asked where I got it from, cause he won't mind getting one.

Neilg, you're saying Powerpro. Reefman, in his report on Kilwa used Whiplash, and it stood the the test of time. Craig54 is saying Suffix Performance. Thing is, if I hook a dream GT, I don't want to loose it. I'm willing to spend the money if need be.

Whiplash is very very good, can take abuse and casts well
Aqua dude, have you used whiplash for jigging and spinning ? Whiplash was made to be used as backing,.
Powerpro is thicker than Whiplash, so will be able to take more punishment.
Another option will be YGK.
Would personally stick to Powerpro or YGK.

I agree with Neil: PowerPro is the way to go. If you have more money to spend, then you can consider some of the Japanese braids like YGK or Varivas.
If you're plugging/popping over flats or from the boat, Whiplash should be fine. If there's any coral, rocks or other structure then abrasion comes into play and you'd be better off with PowerPro. Loosing a big fish because your Whiplash got shredded on a rock is not a nice feeling - though it can happen with other lines too, just not as easily.
If you have a spare spool, it may be a good idea to put PowerPro on one and Whiplash on the other. You should take a backup reel on fishing trips anyway, even if you have a spare spool for your main reel.
