Salt Rock Trip

Woke up sparrows on Sat 25 , man was it cold !! , drove down to S.R , arrived at caravan park at 11:30 am and met up with Skrops, ( who had driven down the previous day) and Pieterh , set up camp and so on , put some tackle together quickly and Critter and Reynard joined us and headed off to Tinley Manor for the afternoon , but no luck ,waters were very quiet. Over the next couple of days fished Rapsons rock , Salt rock ,to the left and right of tidal pool early morning and late afternoons all on high tides, Umdoni point and a 12 hour session at Salt rock again, every trick in the book was tried, different traces, bait combo's , casting far , and close by.... but to no avail... Skrops managed to pick up 2 stumpies and a streepie and his son also got a stumpie. At Umdoni, Pieterh got a slide in the water 1st and got picked up by a bus of note !! it peeled off all his mono and went into the braid, unfortunately his braid snapped as he was putting max pressure on fish to slow him down , better luck next time Pieter !!. Saw hardly any sard activity , although ther was some small pockets far out to sea , netters were cruizing up and down but none came a shore.. on Thursday 30th, Anton (aka Spickerish ) joined Skrops and myself on the beach at S.R till about 10:30 PM , nice to meet other members and spend some time on the beach. All in all not a very productive trip but fun none the less to get away and meet the other guys and spend some quality time wetting a line . pics to follow..

Another nice report Mike, thanks... Some beaut spots there - looks like you guys had a good time!

As a matter of interest... what type of braid was Pieterh using? Did the braid snap, or did the Bimini knot at the Caps Paw come undone?

Thanks Tony, i think it was Kingfisher braid 50lb and the braid snapped ,  knots were all good and held up to the strain. weactually stood next to Pieter and watched as the bimini/ catspaw went off the spool and out to sea , about 20 to 30 meters on and then the braid let go.
