Dear Anglers

The South African Shark Conservancy (SASC) is extremely excited to announce our  RecFishSA project (click to learn more). 

A large component of RecFishSA is to foster better relationships between anglers, scientists and management, and with this in mind, we have developed the Responsible Angling Clinic  (RAC).

Angler who attend RAC will learn how to tag their caught and released sharks, how to best ensure post-release survival, basic biology and ecology of sharks, skates and rays and more.

RAC is FREE, ORI tag kits will be available for order at R300 each.

Fellow Anglers,

As Environmental Officer of the Western Cape Shore Angling Association, I would like to extend our sincere appreciation for an outstanding workshop that was presented by South African Shark Conservancy. 

To Tamzyn and her interns we would like to say that the presentation was informative and we are looking forward to our first practical workshop.  We would also like to thank all the anglers for the excellent turn out and the enthusiasm shown to partake in our program.

Watch this space for further updates on our first outing which will take place at Betty's Bay where we will be targeting spotted gully sharks.  The date of the event and the precise locations will be announced once all the participants in last night's meeting have successfully received their tags and the best possible conditions present themselves

Thanks so much Zane, you have been a vital component in the success of this programme - would never have happened without your input and skills!

To all you wonderful anglers who attended the first RecFishSA Responsible Angling Clinic in Goodwood last Thursday, thank you so very much for your attendance and participation!

YOU GUYS WERE AMAZING!
