Rust

Howzit guys,

Does anyone have some suggestions or know of some products for the treatment of spears, knife etc to prevent rust from building up? As well as a treatment for the rubbers so that they don't loose elasticity and become brittle. Many products claim that they do, but I have yet o find the right one.

Thanks,

Mmmmm... Pretoria and rust, two words I thought I'd never hear in the same sentence::S

Hi Lelik

I'm using a good quality silicone spray on my speargun rubbers at the moment (for a longer term test) and so far the seam to be doing the job quite well. I've also seen a spearguns' rubbers wrapped in tinfoil (if this works I dont know). I suppose cling wrap may do the job as well. If you are not going to use your guns for a while I'd suggest that you cut the cord(s) that keep the bridle in place. 50cents of nylon cord is so much better than R180's rubber. Also try taking the rubbers out of the muzzle.

As for the spears and knives etc the advice I can give is to wash it with fresh water after each use and dry it off properly before you put it away. If you are not going to use it for a while then give it a good spraying of silicone.

Hope this helps.
