Hey guys I was just wondering if anyone has any information on this dam? It used to be the old rand water place (I think) and its also called the R50 dam for obvious reasons I presume! Ive heard about people catching bass there! But a family friend told me the other day that there are other fish species there! Any info or pics will be great thanks in advance guys!

Hi WK
there are 2 dams there the one is carp/barble and the other is a bass dam caught some bass on horny toads and black dead ringers i havnt fished for carp in a while there are also chalets etc not too bad if youre going for a few hours. there are plenty carp in the first dam caught about 25 carp for the day but that was about 3 years ago on fx/strawberry combo but that can change as we all know
the place is also clean so you can take the ladies as well.
Sorry i dont have pics but the carps from +- .5-2.5Kg and the bass were all between .5-1kg .

Not a bass expert but damn I've fished that spot on more than one occasion. If you are going to target bass I'll be the wrong guy to ask. But hey, fishing the dam for carp can be tricky. Early morning its wise to use your smelly / strong scented dips. After 11.00am switch to fruity / sweet scented dips. Plain dough or almond flavored work well there.

Best of luck. Aqua

when driving on klipriver road towards brackendowns from mulbarton...
halfway between swartkoppies robot and vaal road robot there is a road to your right (microlights sign and zeemans sign). take that road, 0,5km on your right hand side...

ive been there once but havent caught anything, the guys next to me have caught small ones... but i believe there are some monsters there...

i dont think i'll go there anytime soon... maybe just to practice my casting and play around with new baits or something but not for serious fishing...

when do you want to go there??? best is to get there nice and early... to get the best spot... i think they open at 06h30....
