Hey all.

Went to Roodeplaat from wednesday to friday this week.  Bad week for us. Didnt even catch one fish.  Spoke to some other guys and most of them had the same luck

First time we fished here.   we camped at the last camp site facing NTV grounds.


Is there any one who can shed some light on roodeplaat?  Ive been there often and didnt manage to catch alot of fish.  Dips, distance, hook sizes anything welcome please!

They Morning Live show on SABC 2 this morning had a whole show there about the water quality and the hyacinth. Was quite interesting. I think it will still be a long tim before Roodeplaat will be a proper venue again. And the prices have gone up as well at the reserve end. I will only go there during summer to entertain the kids with the canaries and to hook some nice barbel.

Hi,

I have booked peg:30 at hengelaarsfriend for the 19,20,21. have no idea how this peg is in regards with water depth, distance to cast. i have had some good wel ferly good resalts at rodeplaat. i only have my 10 foeters avalabe (14 feet graphites stil in KZN). :fishn

I wand to try MX, tac and MLX boldips. is it a good idea to punchase these bol dips. i also wand to try sum bleeding floaties. have anyone used these dips before at rodeplaat.

also which fishing clubs are in PTA east. i have mostly fished for KZN so dont know a lot about fishing clubs in PTA.

also where can i buy sum of MG dips (carpworld dips) in pta east.

According to hengelaarsfriend the fish finished spawning.

My brother and dad were there yesterday and they say the spawning is in full swing.

Stil 2 weeks to go, i just hope they arn't stil spowning then. ^^..

if thay are, i just have to find away to make them bite.

Spawning not always bad for artlure  - there are always one of the big ones who taking a brake from :sf::: and getting hungry.

I have covered plenty of shores today and havent seen any barble or carp spawning at Roodeplaat. I think they are finish for now. The colour of the water is green and the wind was blowing quite strong. Manage to catch a number of barble, but the biggest 5kg. Caught more on casting than dipping.

I go to Hengelaarsvriend often and have never caught nothing there.

It is one of my best spots

Try using Almond, Banana and FX. I normally catch with Tiger nuts but had good ones on Strawberry mielies aswell
