Hi All,

Had a full weekend of social events and was still able to sneak in a couple hours on the water on Sunday.

Managed to get 2 bass of around 1.5kgs in LGF's honey hole and saw many good sized bass cruising around. Any stick protuding from the water has a male bass on a nest and a beeg female lurking around in the shaddows.

It was these males that I managed to pick up but mainly just out of pure aggression. I used sinking cranks. Banging them up against the structure and lettingthem sink into the nest. The nest seemed to always be on the deepwater side of the structure so it was relativly easy to target them from the boat.

At this time it was pouring with rain and needles to say the camera stayed in the waterproof compartment - so lads sorry no pictures of bass.

We then saw some tree trunks(big mermaids) in the shallows and never being one to pass up on an opportunity to catch a mermaid or two. We started throwing craks for them and were nicely rewarded for our effort.

Enclosed a pic

Thanks lads,

I hear the boys blanked @ RDW so I wouldn't feel too bad bout blanking @ Witbank.

J - I've seen some of those fish I saw a couple "boom stompe" (mermaids) around the 10/12kg on Sunday but they had a case of locjaw and would not even blink @ a lure swum past them.

No Sweat..

I just thought you was being just plain rude by not answering the phone.......

Thought you were hiding just to keep me out the honey hole........

I found sum bus bass near the Black drums where the pup is in the one bay, there are a whole lot of trees etc in the water and around these trees were a whole herd of bass. Also there is a very rocky ridge there I saw sum nice fat mama's there.

The Blue jetty where your honey hole is were you guys fishing with white flukes?

I saw many hooked on the branches and the odd spinnerbait too.....

Just to deep to reach and I don't swim in the "Plaat"

The :f1shy rude? NO WAY BUD, :f1shy = a :rasta'farian :clow and one mean happy chap.

Anyway, we didn't see any LGF's at the blue jetty so we cruised up and around towards te damwall and just before the bend The Pig (Bastid) caught one on a Heddon, Bay topedo (with a propeller on tha A S S) topwater, couldn't believe it but he did the Pig.

I went to the bay with the black pump before but didn't see any there and perhaps that's why we didn't go there on Sat.  Theres a bay to the right (the one with the island) and right at the rear of it (furthest south) is a smallish bay where the Mer-people seemed to congregate in their thousand, the water was litterally boiling with their faces, thats where the pig got one on a white skirted jig like lure....

Hi LGF,

Just windin you buddy. Yep I know that is a reqular haunt for mermaids - I was in there after them but there was not 1 to be seen. I think they like that spot when it is hot and the water warms up.

I saw the bass in the other bay - there's a couple of stumps and twigs in the water on the left before it gets to shallow.

I'm amazed to hear a bass being caught on a topwater in Roodeplaat - did'nt think it was posible @ this altitude.

ANyways no sweat buddy.

This is what gets to me a bit, this Pig I'm frequenting the plaat's waters with seems to land/ducky these greenies on the most weirdest of baits and tactics,:kneel::::respekt: i'm starting to wonder what he rubs on these lures of his before he rigs them? :fbashKeeping in mind that he's a real pig (Vlakvark).....:hyst:

The question is more where does he rub them......:temp:

Actually we don't wanna know but it obviously works what ever the case....

I think he's bottled the stuff, but even so, I don't think I'll be all to willing to rub that on my lures, not even with some serious lava-glove thingy's..... eeeehhhhhwww!!!!
