So we had our second club comp for the season at Roodekoppies.
Marno and myself were fishing together for this one. Kick off time was at 06h30 anyways we started a few minutes later than expected.
MArno and myself noticed that there was a fair bit of hyacinth that had washed down from the bridge over the crocodile river and it was here that we decided to see if we could pull a makreil or two. Within a few casts both of us had decent Makreil on the boat and it was time to move on.
Next on the list was carp - we went to a bank were I had seen many on previous occasions but to our dismay there were PAP swaaiers on that stretch and therefore we found no fish on that beat. We wanted to get bass earlyso we moved on to where we were likely to pull a bass. When we arriced at the spot there were Pap swaaiers fishing from a boat right in the middle of the sloep (There was a bank and boat comp on) so we made our way past them along the left bank. MArno had a few good pulls by bass but they were short striking and only pulling the tail and so missing the hook - no luck for me. As we wer moving out on the opposite side of the "PAP Swaaiers" I noticed a few carp swimming around a rock - Pulled out the dipstok and dipped amongst the carp - straight away I was on. Quickly landed the carp much to the dismay of the "Swaaiers" and MArno took over the dipstok and we worked a little further down the bank where we found a carp having a good nosh. he dipped and the carp moved - thinking we had spooked it he started to pull the loodkoppie out the water and the carp had other intentions it followed the loodkoppie to the surface and slammed it a few mins later the carp came to the net 5kgs much to the disgust of the "Pap swaaier"s who were fast pulling a blank.
So we moved on for some more bass - no luck. The club stops for luch break at 12pm to swop ideas etc and we decided to pull a few barbel. I was first to go away and at 11h50 Marno hooked his - last club comp we got moaned out after being late so the pressure was on to get the barbel to the boat and get to lunch. ANyways we got the barbel in the boat and managed to get to the lunch spot and I even managed to pull a big canary Kurper before we broke for lunch.
