Rods

To some body on this forum. This is just my opinion and don’t need to send me a PM crapping in your pants again.

In my book it is the Johnny Morris elite. I have a 7” Medium action I use for my weightless fishing

R1800, I would buy one if I had the bucks.

What do you guys think about the GLoomis?

I dunno if I'll pay R3.5K for a rod?

Maybe I need to fish with one to appreciate it.

G loomis is very good....my boat partner(damn that sounds G@*)
fishes with G loomis...the eyes of the rods is nearly indestructible and the rod is super sensitive.
But the break very easily, because of the pure graphite it has...but then again you do get a life time warranty what i know of, so every time it breaks you just pay i think R400 and you get a new one...guys im talking under correction here...if someone fishes here with G Loomis, please tell us...But ja like i say, very nice rods...

BM i fish with the quantum PT series rods. and i can say once you pick up and fish with a "decent rod" don't misunderstand me i have also got the el cheapos. but the differance is amazing i thought my fenwick was amazingly sensitive and and and but then i saved up got myself the quantum and believe me there is no contest... i now save extra hard to rather buy a decent rod and semi decent reel than buy 2 or 3 ok setups...

I have three favourite rods:

7ft Crucial cranking stick
6.6ft Berkley Tactix MH for pitching
6.8ft Crucial for mojo

The rest of my rods are all Clarus which IMO are the best value for money rods around.

Hey Guys

My 2c's worth.

I use Diawa Procyons for all my plastics type baits and Shimano Jimmy Houston's for cranks and reaction baits.

Both these rods are sort of end of range or redundant by now but I really believe they are great value for money rods.

One tip that I can say about rods is try and stick to one brand or type if possible and keep it the same for the reels. It just helps a lot if you are swapping between different rods & baits.

I have one G Loomis rod and yip it is a fantastic rod but the difference between a good rod and a fantastic rod is smaller than you would think.

Thats what I thought too.

Is there really such big difference between say a Johnny Morris @ R1800 and a GLoomis @ R3500?

Add a 100 bucks and you have 2 awesome rods for the price of one.

I'll stick to the R650 jobbies for now, Fenwick all the way.

that i would not know... but so far i can tell you between a R600 rod and the quantum R1250 there is a huge dif... but yes i don't think i would pay that for a rod unless i hit the UK lotto...

No you are right… however… the reality is the agents are pretty kak with their service and while you hand in your broken rod at the local tackle dealer you bought the rod from you have to be more than a little patient because it can take MONTHS for a replacement.  Crazy yes… but that’s the kind of service one gets these days… just try and get parts or a service done on a Minn Kota or Moto guide sneaker motor!

You mean you have to actually service an electric sneaker motor?? Ours lasted 5 years until we sold the dingy it was attached to. We never serviced it and it was always used in saltwater...Ah well. Thumbs up to motorguide

Actually the problem sneaker motor is a moto guide on a mates brand new Triton. I got rid of my moto guide and replaced it with a Minn Kota! So a big thumbs down to moto guide and their agents!
