What do you think is the best to use.On this stage i use a vaal 80 rods with shimano bait runners. The rods is not so stiff but have anought backbone to pull a big barbel and helps when it comes to the catp when their mouths is soft. Anybody recomment somthing else or better

I use shimano 7ft with dawia regel baitrunners, shimano 6.8ft 200e dawia excellers, penn 6.5ft boat rod with 4000 excellers. The shimano's for carp and the boatrods for barbel.

Most of the time the shimano' for carp and barbel, the rods have soft tips with alot of backbone. My reels is spooled with 8lb braid.

we can not fish with braid otherwise we are not ltb anymore
The only line we can use is 8-10 pd ICFA rated line. That makes it a bit difficult when fishing with a stiff rod

Ok, lets say that i'am light heavy boat angler. If you fish for barbel do you use circle hooks or not.I use circle hook because i lost many of fish, cannot get good hookset.

The circle you don't need to strike,to set the hook. This has up my landing rate,99% the hook is in the conner of his mouth.Give me your say on this.

I saw the new daiwa reel they brought out .It clips off the drag with a pin were it is attached to the rod.very nice but don`t know how long its going to last when doing tempo fishing. The reel is abit cheaper than the shimanos

Hi There I am also LTB and double X line is tops.

Doesnt really matter what rods you use as long as you are Comfortable and reels well get SHIMANO they are a bit more on money side but they last and have well according to me the best drag systems money can get, But I still think a reel is only as good as the way it is set before the fishing session and the way the owner looks after it.

Just one question on what are you planning to set your drag before you go fishing? because that playes a big role on 4Kg line

I think when you've been fishing for a while you just know where the limit is thats why it's important to be comfortable with your tackle, and use equipment you know won't let you down.

I dono if others do this but i mean I personally adjust my drag many times during a fight, theres no real place to set it, just adjust it while your playing the fish depending on your position, duration into fight and structure in water but all within the limitations of 4kg line.

You will k@k in your pants when you realise how strong this Double-X IGFA lie actually is

I have been fishing with double-X IGFA since I could remember from the boat and its been very good to me never had any trouble.

Turboguppy I think most people do the same as you with the drag, set it wile fighting a fish from the bank I do the same, But form the Boat I use the Fighting drag and set it before the time at not more than 2Kg on full.

Hotstuff, have you seen the fun tackle's ltb rods?I think this is the closed to the old think blue marlin ltb rods. They where R105.00 each, have anyone seen or tried them.

i have one that i use for baber but its a bit stiff for carp fishing.I think everybody will dever on it as some people like more of a stiffer rod to catch carp

If i'am not mistaken it's ratted 6-12lb.Feels not to stiff, will give them a try.Really want to fish the loch,do you fish this time of the year.
