Rods - How do you do it?!?

OK, so I am new on the forum, and have not acquired a ski yet, but it's in the pipeline. I also noticed the forum was a little (much) quieter than other forums I am members with, so instead of keeping quiet, I need to ask more questions.

I see on some of the pics floting around, that the typical fishing rig, consists of the following.

1) A capsize bottle, conveniently blocking the rear deck.

2) 14 fishing rods, 2 gaffs (depending how beeg the feeesh is)

3) Cooler box.

4) tackle box

5) and and and.

 

Now, question. How on earth do you "move around", and what do you do when a fish takes the line, what do you do with the other rods. DO you bring the fish in, hoping he doesn't get tangled. DO you let the reel scream as your prize fish heads off for cooler waters in Antarctica, while you stress about bringing in the other lines, actually hoping you don't get another hook-up, or do you fish with one rod at a time, and depending on your mood, choose which rod to use?  Surely one rod, (maybe 2), is the maximum that can be conveniently handled, do you need more, or is it for show.

I was in a fishing shop this morning, (looking for something else), and noticed that there are literally hundreds of rods, all different sizes, thinkness etc etc. WHat set up do you have / suggest, and how do you manage this?

i am by no means a seasoned angler but, as you say, there is very little space on a jet ski.

I fish with the following generally:

- 2 trolling rods ( 30pound and 50 pound )with tld25 reels
- 1 flick stick for light jigging and dropshot. i use the shimano trevala med/light. this rod is a very good allrounder, ask anyone. you can jig(up to 120g), pop, throw spoons, plugs and dropshot.
- 1 sibiki rod for catching live bait. this helps as you reel the sibikis straight inside the rod and then put it away. no sibikis swinging around on the ski.

i always troll with 2 lines out. as soon as one rod goes, you reel in the other line as fast as you can. only once thats in will i grab the screaming rod.

i have a chest pack that i use when on the ski for lures, pliers, scissors, skirts and all terminal tackle

i too asked myself ALL these questions before i bought my ski..went out a few time & wondered what am i gonna do when that Reel drag screams ..kept on telling my self its a problem i dont mind having..lol...

last week after 3 launches with NO fish i got my first Queen Mackerel 8kg Bus & trust me when that reel runs ur "fisher instinct" takes over & u know exactly wot to do..lol..

but YES space is limited & having stuff organized & a plan in place is half the battle won

ull learn a lot from reading previous post about tackle, traces, lures, trolling speeds ect.. u also learn a lot from Watching Guys fish & paying close attention to where he keeps his stuff for convenient access..

*those capsize bottles @ the back never get in ur way when u fishing.. & if u just gonna play around in the dam, its easy to remove 
*jus like matthewswanson1 i also troll 2 rods..i think most guys do, unless they experts :fishn i watched other guys hook up & u gotta get ur free lines out the way before reeling inn ur fish.. u DONT need ur lines tangling!!

*with regards to tackle, im just using my old Ski rods i had, nuthing fancy ...yet ... just like matthewswanson1 i have a chest pack, u cant clip it round the handle bars when u fishing, easy access..

its just my 2c & if there are any other questions, will be glad to help.. & im sure expert guys in the forum will share
