Can anyone recommend a good repairer in the East Rand? I have a few rods and reels that need repairing.

Not on the East Rand but you couldn't do better than taking your stuff to Brandon McQueen (tackle-holic)... He's somewhere near Randpark in the North of Jhb. He is a wizard. Send him a pm
