Rod & Reel Advice

Hi guys.

Fishing for Big Carp mostly but do like more often than not to get the bass gear out and catch a few.

I bought a Shimano Nexave Rod and some or other Daiwa spinning reel that caught me a good few fish but could not get on with the daiwa reel TBH the built quality to me left much to be desired.

So to get to the point.
I am in the market the coming year for a decent Spinning reel, a baitcaster and a proper rod or 2 again.

Will be fishing both from the bank and from the boat.
Will be using this setup for Pike in the UK but I am mainly after recommendations on the Shimano Spinnning reels for bass in SA.
Also would appreciated some advice on high end rods available at the moment.

I don't mind spending a few quid on these if anyone could help with recommendations that stood the test of time it would be much appreciated.

Hi Gert

i will look at the curado reels and shimano aero cast Rods

A bit pricey but well worth the money.

My apologies for the very late reply.
Your post is certainly very helpful.

Had a good look a the Curado reels and they certainly look the business so decided to go for one of them.

Now to get a matching rod.

I see there is a couple of different Curado models and also different gear ratio's.
Do you have any experience or input on any specific model?

The Shimano rods you mentioned in the first post ain't dear at all so will definitely be looking into getting one of them again i think once I have sorted a reel.

I am also looking for another normal spinning reel not a baitcaster and not a closed faced reel any suggestions on this?
