Rod for a Diawa Sl50

Hi Guy

 

I have an Diawa SL50 and would  like to buy a rod. Can anyone please advise me on which would be a better rod to buy between a 14ft poseidon assassin or a 14ft Loomis and Franklin.

All depends on the budget and the amount of fishing you plan on doing. Spending a fortune on a rod thats only gonna be used 3 times a year is a bit of a waste. But in my book the Assassin Med Beachmaster at +/- R1500 is a good all-rounder. But there are some cheaper options just depends what time-to-money spend ratio you are looking at the investment in your rod. Think second hand as well I bought a Blue Marlin G3 second hand and is by far my luckiest rod  at 750 bucks it was a bargain !!!

i love the blue marlin G3 range quite inexpensive and worth the money.

loomis are great as well

poseidon make lovely hmgs,
but i find it difficult to get the standard 3 piece (not sure of name) loaded properly for casting.

the budget at the moment is R700. i have a mate in my flat that is selling his Assassin poseidon 14ft - 3pc rod with a heavy and light tip for R700. Rod is in excellent condition like brand new. I went to Akals yesterday and they guy there mentioned I should buy a Loomis and franklin for about the same price.

200ts - im fishing for edibles or anything big of the surf because i have never caught that big one yet.

Hello buddy

I used to love them loomis until my buddy broke all 3 tips on his rod

I have the assasin wonderful and supa light

poseidon assasin well 2 different rods if I`m not mistaken.

Else look for an shimano exage 6 - 8 oz great rod for an alrounder I bought one off the sight for R500 with 3 tips

I would recommend the assasin, loomis and frankilin is a good rod but the assasin for the type of fishing you are doing is tops and you getting it for a bargain, if you decide not to take the assasin let me know.:fishn
