Rod Conversion Opinions

Hi guys

I have a 10ft Blue Marlin Carp Rod, called the Carp 10

It has a really nice action and I was thinking of getting it converted into a telescopic rod, with the line going through the inside of the blank...(apparently possible with some mods).. Basically a baby barbel calling rod, but for dipping carp

I guess it doesnt have to be telescopic, but it may be more convenient when fishing

Any ideas or recommendations?

The rod will be shorter if converted. The shortest dipping rod I will recommend is 14 feet. Also remember that the friction inside the rod tube might be severe especially on thinner diameter fishing line. I will recommend an inline telescopic only where you fish for carp in heavy structure, eg between reeds.

Is do-able

Have the inter-line guides and you can buy from Blue marlin

It is the G2 10' 1-2oz T24 blank used for that rod

Trim down the re-inforcement wraps on the base of the tip to allow the tip to get a lot further up, do it bit by bit

The outer of the base doesn't need re-inforcing

ah thats no good then... I got sponsored a customised calling rod about a 12footer, but it feels a bit heavy far carp...

what would you do with this rod? I've got it so might as well use it

perhaps I can get the but extended another 4ft somehow

how would I thin out the base? my first thought is a lot of sandpaper and elbow grease...

Rod lathe and sandpaper easier

You can take the thicker stuff off with a blade and try prevent it cutting in to deep

YOu can shorten it by 2' and use it as a casting rod for catfish with Lume Lures or a Swimbait rod for Lunker bass

As is is a good river or short range Carp and Barbel rod

I've already got my vengeance 8ft for the pumpkinseeds, love that rod

BUT this bm is such a lekker blank, i wanna use it for something... would like it totally rebuilt from tip to butt...

will have to think about it...
i dont fish from the bank at all, and I just got a 15ft semi rigid so was thinking a boat rod
