I took some clients to the point and was greatly surprised at the results that we got. The sea was too clean and flat and when we arrived at the point I was wondering what I had let these poor guys into. Fortunately we had 2 gillies that carried all the tackle so it was a very enjoyable walk.

We waited about a hour for the first pull and as the fish pulled me flat I new we had a raggy on! I smiled from ear to ear as this was our target species! Wikus played the fish expertly and after about 20min we managed to get her on the slip for a few pics.

Next we decided to slide an ocky as he wanted to have a go at catching a flat fish next. The rod must have been in the water for 30min and I noticed the line go slack! I jumped up, wound like crazy and bang! Fish on! I handed wikus the rod and he played the fish like he had done it a million times before! Anyone that has caught a duckbill at the point before can testify that is a man's job to catch one. No matter how big, they fight dirty and go strait down into the bricks!

By now we had become extremely cocky. We were even nominating the next spesies! Wikus's son David looked at the bait and said that if he was a shark he would definitely eat the bait! I don't think he was joking as this 11year old had finished all the samies by 9am!!

True to form, 30 min later and I had a serious pull on my Assassin S6 and DC 30. The fish took about 200m of line at a blistering speed and I handed the rod to Wikus and said, 'Hier is you Bronzie'!  After 20min and some back breaking pulling, I was getting worried, the fish had not showed it self yet but I was noticing some VERY familiar "moves" by this shark. My buddy Renier who was assisting me gave me the look and I rolled my eyes at him - we both new the poor guy was fighting a white!! By now the fish was close but holding quite deep. As it came up I saw that my suspicions were correct! You should have seen the guy's face when I told him I had to break the fish off!

We managed to get the fish against the ledge as the sea was very flat, I removed the circle hook from it's mouth & it swam off so strongly that it looked like it never had been hooked. Pity about the photo Wikus! But what an experience! He had had enough by now and we decided to get his 11year old son onto a fish. It wasn't long and the lightie was hanging onto the rod for dear life!

I let them "bond" with mr Smoothound for a while and then helped them by yanking him out of the water by the leader. He can thank his lucky stars I did not catch him earlier as he would have become bait!
