Right, so today I decided to go and throw my cast net and see if I could get a few mullet. Things were going well and it didn't take long to get a couple descent size 'livies' and then I caught this...
Hi zulu X streme.
You gave me an idea to take my cast net from the store room. This is what I got in Milnerton. The fire is buring, salt and pepper and ready for action.
Speaking of unexpected catches in a throw net,I was at the Vaal dam throwing mine this time last year looking to catch Barbel bait.I kept working the shoreline and caught nothing. Then I threw and as i started to retrieve, all of hades broke loose and I saw this missile of about 1m long blast through my net!At first i thought that it got under the net,but upon closer inspection noticed a neat hole punched in the net(sorry,no photos available). It was a large grass carp!Well, thats fishing for you!One never knows what to expect!
By the way, where did you catch those beautiful prawns(hopefully not a secret location)!?
Good luck eating anything from Milnerton lagoon the run off coming from Du Noon in the Diep river is foul I've also caught used xxxxxxxx and xxxxxxxxxx whilst fishing for carp!BLEH YUCK
Nothing wrong with your post or with the words used in them, just better to get rid of them.
I've netted those prawns in the mud under a bridge in Richards bay 30 years ago where the net practically lifts out the water, there's so many hundreds of prawns inside. Problem is trying to get your feet out of the mud thereafter with a full net on your back
Ok,so from what I understand, one can throw a castnet off a boat as long as you have a cast net permit(unless otherwise specified such as in the case of St-Lucia,where absolutely NO CAST NETS permitted in the estuary!::cop:vgwritefv:cry1
