rigging a minnow

Cos i have had my minnows gettin stuck in the bricks ..
just from my experiences !!!:)

Cause of the jig head the hook will always face upwards so hooking the minnow the other way will just make it look silly and unnatural what minnows you using?

Shweet remember the lighter the jighead the more natural the minnow looks. So try go as light as possible depending on how deep you are fishing and how far you need to cast. Also macarthy minnows are awesome but recquire different retrieves for different models like the jerk shad can be whipped back at speed and the finesse minnow is for more shy fish so it needs to be fished slower and twitched a lot

what type of distance does one need to get when casting from shore cos most of my throws end up in the white water,although i hav caught kob in this region and thats with a 3/40z with a 7 or 8ft if i really push it

Thats not bad at all you will catch a variety of fish in the surf zone such as wave garrick and kingies. But if you want to target larger fish that are out of reach then you can go heavier. To catch fish you have to think like a fish so if the jighead looks too big it probably is. What you  can do is use the wind if its blowing towards the sea and wait for breaks in it if it isn't. Casting technique also plays a role practice makes perfect. What line are you using?

since im new to dropshot i didnt want to spend to much just yet so i opted for kingfisher 0.22 giant abrasion with 6lbs floro leader will eventully replace my mono with braid bt for now its ok

Try go quite light whatever you are comfortable fishing with. Regarding brands berkley fireline, kingfisher, suffix etc... they can be quite pricey though

they got spiderwire braid on special at  commercial marine in PE harbour for R175-00 for 275 yards 20lbs. Made in States looks like good stuff moss green in colour
