Ek dink die ouens is bang hul van n croc in plaas van n baber.

a few months back i stopped @ rietvlei to check the place out and i met a Oomie, he was dropping his lines off at the island , in the 30min that i stood  there he caught about 7 barbel all in the range of 7 to 12kg .

He had a bucket full of platties  and  baby chicks , and everytime he sent the bait boat out he filled the cups with Chicken blood. He said this really attracts the barbel .

The guys @ teh gate told me that the OOm is a regular there and knows the good fishing holes @ rietvlei , his record  barbel at rietvlei  is 35kg.

julle manne moet of facebook gaan kyk en n group search meti naam "fishing buddies" en sien wat trek n vent genaamd Rico daar uit op n gereelde basis... Hy reken mens vang ni daar oor n naweek nie maar net in die week... dis ook hy wat vang in die sesmyl spruit en die karp en baber looi.

Ons het by die eiland gesit , diepte so 200m , net ini aand gevang .

did the hippo not trouble you guys .

As most  of the people fishing on the last spot towards the island , has problems with the male hippo @ night. I believe it is worst when they are mating.

Is the dam still full of all the  floating grass.

no hippo problems this time had some before , the grass is a lot better .
