Pity though. I fished there years back and got nothing now u can actually get bass close to home! Even a quick ninja session after work and entrance is cheap as u don't have to haul a boat 120km to get a decent fish . But I'm sure they will be fine as you say very little area to target them. I did however notice a lot less canary kurper last year. That been said they reserve will make more money if bass fisherman keep coming back. Not to many people going out to target canaries.

I think you misunderstood me. What I meant to say is he can report them for netting if they are netting Tilapia as well. Which is highly probable.

only saw bass at vlei.

legal or not, good or bad . sure does spoil a days fishing when you have to witness this.

Not to be the devils advocate here, but if we eat more bass we will do our sport more good than bad. One thing we need to change is that we need to cull the small ones and release the bigger bass. At Rust de Winter the small bass are every where and you get 300g fish spawning which I call the fish bowl effect. I believe that the growth is stunned due to over population. So in my opinion the hook & cook brigade is doing us a favor. And if all else it relieves some of the pressure on our indigenous fish species.

I agree, culling is more often than not a good thing. The bass population is far from endangered. #EATMOREBASS

Hi Guys -- Kindly advise ... have the safety issues been resolved at Rietvleidam and what lures are currently working there? Would you recommend it as a good venue to take my 5 yrs old?

Reading this thread I still can not determine how these guys are catching the Bass. If they use rod and reel, what lures are they using to be able to catch so many Bass.:alien:sc:::What do they now that we do not?
