Good Day Gents

I want to go and fish for LM yellows and barbel in the Richtersveld.

Plan is to target them on lure. Would really appretiate some info and tips.

- What is the best time of the year to go?

- Which area is the best?

I have a really good idea on what lures and techniques to use, but tips are always welcome

I don't know which time of year is the best but usually riverss fish the best when they are at their lowest level as fish are more concentrated due to less water available. You can PM Ryan for info on barbels at the Orange. Last time we were there we managed two on calling, but the weather was bad.

One more question.

Would you guys recommend taking kayaks or floattubes if you go fishing in the DeHoop/Richtersberg area in Richtersveld? Would prefer a floattube as it takes up less space, but not sure how strong the currents are as I've never been there.

How accessible are the banks and pools there? Would bank fishing be possible?

Direct copy out of a mail I received:

Ek het 2 x 5 uur sessies gehad oorkant Felix Unit kamp naby Vioolsdrif. Het 48 vis gevang, waarvan 2 largemouth was (55 & 56 cm), een barbel van 53 cm, een moggel en die res small mout (tot 48 cm). Almal op klein vliegies, die grootste omtrent #10 control fly, maar meeste op ongeveer #14-16. Beste was klein swart tungsten bead  met goose biots lyf, swart thorax en CDC collar.  Nou moet ek net al die ander plekke in die rivier gaan probeer! Sal maar solank nog vliegies bind want die klippe het heelwat gevreet! Groete

Kyk ook op die kaart na 'n gedeelte van die rivier net wes van Vioolsdrift genaamd Channels, gewilde vlieghengel plek, jy't egter 'n 4x4 nodig om tot daar te kom.

Baie Dankie Koper

Sal definitief kyk na daai gedeelte.

My Hilux is baie hoog en het diff lock maar ongelukkig net 4x2. Sal ek daar in kom of is 4x4 a moet? {Weet jy noem 4x4 is nodig maar een of 2 ouens my al gese 4x2 behoort ok te wees. So wil net weet of ek sal moet begin uitkyk vir a ander bakkie}
