We had a excellent holiday in Dec, we took part in the Meer en See boatclub bill,game and bottom fish competition and ended in second place with a Wahoo of 19.6 kg. After the competition we cought three marlin one blue and two Stripeys in three days as well as a Dorado of 15.4 kg.

Thanks guys, I was down for the weekend and went out yesterday......and believe it or not we had seven Marlin strikes!!!! But could not get any to the boat, but still what a good day!

Needed that for the Zambezi story This Weekend At witsand ......Yoh .

Hi Defenition it is standard IGFA 80lb marlin tackle with 1000m of 80lb mono, a nice size marlin will run of around 600m of line once the deck is cleared (about 3 minutes) The drag is set at 8kg and strike at 12kg. If one get the strike the drag is set on strike and once the fight starts after the deck is cleared(all other rods 4 are out of the water) the drag is set back to 8kg or even less depending how much line was taken. So it seems big but trust me marlin are fierce fighters and on average about 3 out of 10 is caught. As far as dinner you bet I had some and it is very nice!
