Richards Bay ~ North Pier

Yesterday afternoon my nephew and his friends and I 'trekked' down to the end of North Pier to try our luck fishing the outgoing tide...

The weather was really strange, like 4 seasons all in the same day... It started out being blistering hot, then the SW came out of nowhere, then the wind settled down, the sky clouded over and it rained and then finally just before dark everything went dead quiet, including the fish...

The guys had a great time, we did'nt catch any edibles but the baby greys kept us very, very busy...

'Raggie' and I made up two baits to slide... Our rods were at the point of the pier and that's where they stayed for the whole afternoon completely untouched... This is an example of the baits we slid, how anything could not find this appealing is beyond me...

What was interesting is that all we caught the entire day were stacks of baby grey sharks... 'Raggie' caught 5, Jess caught 1 and I caught 3 of which one was a double up... lol.

Haha love the double up. They pull in different directions. Hope the "chinas" don't find those small ones

Milky's and boy can they be a pest when they find your baits. I've even chopped them and slid them and seems they're like barble, nothing eats them

It really was a pleasure bud, it's just a pity we ran out of time, would have enjoyed taking you up the beach. Your enthusiasm is remarkable.... Any time you are down here again feel free to give me shout...

Let me tell you a little secret, seebaber fillet or head is one of the best baits for spotted gully sharks if not the best bait. I caught my pb of 174cm on a baber head with guts.

Best shark bait for shark is a piece of shark. Bigger sharks eat a lot of smaller sharks. I don't just kill for the sake of killing but like you use a Sardine to catch a Kob I use a hound to catch a BIG Bronzie.

In fact i would hate to come back to life as a Smoothound or a Lesser Sandie, everything eats them.

Yes Armand, poor comparison there I've caught Raggie and big Kob on pap geslaande Babertjies.
