Hi all,

Need a break from the rat race and been itching to do some fishing.

So please would love to know how the fishing has been and whats been coming out

of the harbour area dropshotting?

Also hows the weather been and whats water looking like.

Howzit Sven.  Unfortunately the weather hasnt been playing ball so havent had a chance to go for a throw this past week.  The week before was getting a lot of blacktail and the odd moonfish but that was it.  Hopefully the weather clears up soon.

When you planning on coming down?  Will update you if weather clears this week.

tx for the update, it's not decided when exactly.

Was thinking, since it's almost sardine run season too maybe wait for them, if they arrive this year (water temp) permitting.

Then keep an eye on reports and if they starting to come close to shore, shoot down for a couple of days chasing after the shoals.

Have been wanting to fish during a sardine run.

The weather has been crappy.. did manage to land a small 20cm snapper salmon off the T jetty and a lantern on the north pier about 2 weeks ago and only managed 2 bartails the past weekend at the commercial slipway and a banana fish in the channel.

Had no luck fishing for prayfish and only got takes on camo worms, slow retrieve on the bottom.

 

I tried the short pier, north pier, t jetty, small craft harbour and the commercial slipway. Am planning to check out the short pier, pelican island and maybe the channel.

Strangest thing happend this past weekend. Was fishing off shaky rocks (naval island) with a spoon and got a +-1kg rock cod... did'nt know rock cod went for spoons!
