Resin plug

I first tried this one to see if the white board marker will work as a mould. It worked just fine and the plug came out without a problem.

I then wanted to make one with silver glitter but had to come up with a plan. Bacause if I want to cast the eye inside the glitter will mess up the effect. So I mixed the glitter resin and poured to just onder the eyes. Waited for the resin to turn jelly and then poured a clear mix.

The eyes that I used was stickers that I had cut. The problem here is that it wrinkels in the resin. I found that if I first make the stickers eyes into 3D eyes and then use it in the resin I do not get the problem.

I have another one in the mould and will post pics as soon as I can demould it. It is a white one with a clear head with the eyes moulded inside.

Just another thing. The glitter I used is bigger than the ones I used on some of my other plugs. The problem here is that the glitter sinks to the bottom. What I did was to mix the resin and glitter. As the resin cures it becomes thicker. I then stir the resin and glitter again. I do this slow as any air bubbles will have difficulty escaping from the resin. It seems to work well.

Thanks. The first one I put the weight io the front. This causes it to loose almost all its action. The second one I put the weight in the back of the lure and the action is unbelievable. Big fish better bite these.

The wire is stainless wire throughout the length of the lure.

Okay cheers,its straightened out when you take it out the mould,great idea.

Is there anything you could add to the resin to allow the lure to float.
Micro balloons or something,I would like to make one but it needs to float to work slow across the surface,anyone have any ideas.

What is the action like,just wondering if it will spin because its symetrical or am I missing something,actually you could place the nose wire in the correct position to allow for that

I was thinking of moulding a glass rattle into the lure. With the weight I use Im not sure that it is going to drift. For that I think you will have to remove the weight completly. I cast the weight to one side which will them determine the under side of the lure. This prevents the lure from rolling. The swimming action of this lure is amazing. I made shorter fatter ones that I also posted in a previous threat that swims even better. I will take photos of how I bent the wire and where I put the weight and post it.

Ok there I have already bend the wire. As you can see, its just a double bent. In this plug I use a Mojo sinker.

I insert the sinker in both ends of the wire. Now the lure has a top and bottom. Sinker will be bottom.

I use moulding putty to seal the tail of the lure. It also holds the mould without a problem.
