Research about Jet Ski fishing

I'm really fascinated about going the route of Jet Ski fishing. I'm the type of person that likes to know exactly what i'm getting myself into. Is there a diff between the skippers for Jet Ski and a Ski boat.

How long does the skippers last ? Where can it be done in Durban and at what cost ? What does the process entail ?

What safety requirements are needed for you and on the vessel ?

I'll get to the Jet Ski and fishing equipment later.

Please be patient, I really want to be thorough here. So that I can make an informed decision.

Thanks a mil.

For a jetski you can either get Cat E which has a 1 Nautical Mile limit or Cat D which is 5 NM but with additional safety gear. I would go straight for Cat D if I was you. Cat D is also the max you can get with a single engined craft.

How long does the skippers last ? Once you get it, forever Where can it be done in Durban and at what cost ? Call Jenny at SADSAA (office at Durban Skiboat Club 031 337 6931) What does the process entail ? You attend some lectures, write an exam and then you have to spend a certain amount of time under the tutelage of a licensed skipper who will complete your logbook. Then you apply for the COC (Certificate of Competency or skippers as its commonly called)

What safety requirements are needed for you and on the vessel ? Again it depends on what Category. Call Racetech Yamaha for a list of required safety equipment.

I'll get to the Jet Ski and fishing equipment later.

Please be patient, I really want to be thorough here. So that I can make an informed decision.

Thanks a mil.

Hi Nippy

Think MikeF has answered most of your questions. All thats left is to say "GO FOR IT"! It is the most fun I have ever had with my cloths on!::S

Jeiski's are such versatile crafts - can be used for fishing:ifishin ,cruising ,playing ,towing friends/wife/kids on skis, tubes etc. I have had mine now for about 9 months & still get as excited about using it as day 1.

Take the plunge - you won't be sorry!

Msinsi holdings don't agree. They say you are not allowed to tow anything with a Jetski
