Blaauwpan, Kempton Park 01.02.2010[/b]

Location: 

We fished at the bottom of last toilet, to the left of the old wire fence. (Hope it makes sense)

Combos:

1. Top Hook: Almond float covered with swd. Dipped in Blertsie.

    Bottom Hook: Almond float dipped in almond. Bom: Almond and Ebony                              

  2. Top Hook: Almond float with swd, dipped in The Red Guru. 

    Bottom Hook: Almond Float dipped in Ebony. Bom: 2006, The Red Guru, Ebony, little FX

Comments:

I managed to catch two carps with the above mentioned combo’s. I also made sweet rice with condense milk and added it to my plain bom as soon as the sun started peeping out of the clouds. Tried worms, but nothing took to it at all. The fish were caught around about 10am and 11:00 am. We packed up by 1pm as we didn’t have sufficient shade under the gazebo.

Some decent fish came out two stands to the left of me. The angler took his bait in with a bait boat and dropped his line at +- 180 – 200mtrs. He caught four decent looking carps in two hours.

Ja, in plaas van sout gou ek net twee eetlepels suiker in. Ek het nie gedink dit gaan werk nie. LOL

PI, ek oorweeg om bietjie n draai daar te maak (Blaauwpan) die naweek. Soos ek verstaan moet n ou nogals ver ingooi? Is dit korrek? Wat is die koste om daar in te gaan, ek was nog nooit daar nie en ek bly 2 km soos die kraai vlieg van daar af. As ek lekker vang, gaan ek meer gereeld soontoe gaan.

Thanks for the report, think I'll rather stick tot he Vaal for numbers and size of fish.

Very seldom that one hears of good fish caught from the bank here.

I normally go there if the budget is tight. The guys with the bait boats get decent sized fish, however I normally try my best not to blank even if its jus an outing with the wife and kids.

I normally sit close to the last toilet, but never tried the old competition grounds (Far right hand side of the dam). It seems that the dam likes red dips and sweet fruity stuff when the sun is pumping.

Im not a person that can cast a great distance. I think I cast a 100 mtrs if I can include the kitchen sink as well......

I also noticed that they like almond.

Thanks for the replies. I have to fish there, it is so close to my house, I can even walk if I want (but that won't happen of course). And it would be a sin not go and try it out. Also prefer the Vaal actually. Will give you guys an update next week.
