Anyone here familiar / using the Shimano Slade 4000FB reel for their bass fishing ?? How have you adapted to the reel and are you happy with the purchase ???

Yes Slade's are the only ones I use these days.
However bor bass I would opt for the 2500fb Slade the 4000 is more geared for Biger fish such as catfish.......

Yeah I tho't of getting one of those but truth be told the 4000FB feels good in my hands and I'm comfortable with it --

I've got a slade 4000. Like ryan says it is a bit big for bass. I now use a Shimano symetre 1000. Lovely little reel. Much better feel

Its smaller sibling the Sidestab is also a good economical hoolahoop reel which is ideal for bass.

I have two Penn  Sargus and two Diawa exellers. Both are awsome and you can use them in the ocean if you want to drop shot . It gives you a bit of flex in your takle.

I just find more excitement hooking a fish on a spinning reel as opposed to a baitcasting reel - tho' different applications I do enjoy a baitcasting reel - spinning reels do it for me.

I also have the Slade 4000, the Symetre 4500 and they both excellent reels, but I hardly use them as I bought two little Zesters some years ago and they don't make them anymore, but they are just GR8 for my spinning style. Slade is STILL a GR8 reel nonetheless.
